Vintage BIT Talkman FM Cassette Recorder CrO2 Metal Boston Inst Tech USA Made TM-001. An extremely rare find, a WORKING Boston Institute of Technology BIT TALKMAN, made in the USA! This is the model 1, labeled TM-001, Made in the USA. Very heavy and solid, with aluminum door. All cassette functions work, FF/RW/Play/Pause, but the audio playback is fast. FM works great, antenna is intact with a slight bend on the tip section. Includes an interesting belt clip with cassette door catch to prevent the tape from falling out while in motion. This is most interesting because that is marked. RQK94ZA Matshushita Electric Industrial Co. Plastic, made in Japan. (So that accessory is made by Panasonic) Later models were modified Panasonic portable cassette recorders, Japan made with US modifications, and then the III was BIT’s US design made in Taiwan. From what we understand, these Talkman cassette players/recorders by the Boston Institute of Technology were intended for educational/library/institutional use or hearing assistance. Very high quality audio cassette devices and very few ever made much less still in good working condition!
