VINTAGE SONY BETAMAX VCR Recorder Player SL-20 B II / III Circa 1984. There is a special website online all-about these BETAMAX machines-I had reviewed it myself. This particular model was a mid-level machine, very good and reliable. Our family when I was very young used one for years. My mother used-to record the Soap-Operas on hers every day while she was at work. Then she would watch them at night. I remember many women doing that. I used-to record movies and especially Fishing Shows On Betamax. Those tapes are somewhere up in my father’s house still LOL. I was one who resisted VHS machines as long as I could possibly hold-out! This machine powers-up fine. It belonged to my Grandmother who died some year ago. WHILE I CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT IT WORKS PERFECTLY / THAT ALL FUNCTIONS WORK CORRECTLY I have NO REASON AT ALL to believe it does not work. As noted, it powers-up perfectly and is in fine condition. I no longer have any BETA tapes to insert and test-play them. Somewhere in my father’s house are undoubtedly these old tapes, along with his machine. It was for years in my Grandma’s house, sitting on her cabinet shelf. My Grandmother stopped using hers when VHS took-over and she got a VHS machine. But she always had her SONY BETAMAX sitting on the shelf. When she passed-away, this was one of the things I took for myself. I searched but could not locate the remote control. As far as I know, my aged father and my aunt and uncle also still have their BETAMAX machines stored-away somewhere in their homes. My uncle Jerry in-particular used his way-beyond anyone else LOL. His father was an early owner and enthusiast for SONY BETA’s. He had this huge library of movies and recordings in BETAMAX tapes. He actually had a type-written catalog listing. If you wanted to borrow any tapes from him you could. Betamaxes were superior to VHS, but due to Industry Issues, SONY got “screwed” here. The other manufacturers deliberately formed a sort-of monopoly to force SONY out of their apparent “monopoly” of these BETAMAX vcr’s. SONY held the exclusive rights / patents etc. To manufacture Betamax VCRs-no other country or mfg could do so. A very-similar thing happened with DVDs and DVD Players in the mid-to-late 1990’s, I remember well. I was employed for many years at Specialty Records Corporation (SRC), mfg of Vinyl Records, Tape Cassettes, VHS Tapes, CDs, DVDs, etc. SONY then got their “revenge” for the industry “snubbing / marketing attack” they took with these BETAMAX VCR Recorder / Players. It took some time for our domestic DVD mfg to “find the way” out of this clever marketing trick / tactic. This measures 16 7/8″ WIDE x 14″ DEPTH (Front to back) and about 3 1/8 HIGH. It weighs around 12-14 pounds–Definitely vintage electronics!! The power cord is over-6 feet long! Top-quality construction and design. THIS, my friends, is how things used-to be made!! If any questions or issues here-or anywhere else-please message me. This vintage classic SONY BETAMAX VCR Recorder / Player, Fully-Programmable, is in very good condition. Please see all pictures and all details noted in the “Item Details / Item Specifics ” Section of the listing. As-far-as SETTING THE CLOCK on this thing, you Ppl are on your own LOL! I never could figure-out how to do that with any vcr’s! VERY IMPORTANT US BUYERS ONLY, AND ONLY FROM THE LOWER-48 CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES STATES, ONLY, PLEASE.. THANK you for looking and please check out my other listings. Ask any questions too. But no worries, you will receive it quickly and safely from UPS. Just taking extra precautions.
