Vintage JVC PC-55 AM FM SW Portable Stereo Cassette Recorder Boombox

For sale is a vintage JVC PC-55 Portable Stereo Boombox. Included is a power cord and copy of the original service manual. Also featured is a 5 band graphic equalizer and RCA cable auxillary inputs. The cassette features many advanced functions for the time such as automatic reverse, music scanning, sleep timer, recording, and an LCD display. Overall, this unit is complete and in very good condition for its age with only minor signs of wear from use. Outer cabinet has minor scuffs and scratches. The speaker cabinets shows minor wear along the edges. A small crack on the the back of the cassette unit just below the REC/PB jack has been repaired with superglue, but the crack is still visible as seen in the tenth photo. Otherwise, everything on this unit is intact with no damage. Both antenna are straight and intact. The battery compartment is very clean with no sign of rust or corrosion. The unit has been tested with the included power cord and 8 D cell batteries (not included). All of the radio functions work very well. The FM stereo and AFC functions work well. All buttons are free of static. The basic cassette functions have been tested and work such as play, stop, pause, scanning, and automatic reversing. The power button on the cassette section of this unit appears to function as intended. It doesn’t do anything when the unit is powered using the power cord, but it does turn the cassette section on/off when the stereo is powered on with batteries. The LCD display seems to experience some minor issues. All of the lines in the counter display appear to function but some are very faint at times, and thus difficult to make out. Additionally, stop/play/pause on the LCD display appears overlapped and is thus difficult to distinguish. The last photo shows an example of thse issues. The recording function has not been tested. Overall, this is an very nice unit with outstanding sound quality and volume. The cassette section may require some minor maintance to get the LCD display back to fully functional condition.
