This is a Sony TC-D5M Vintage Portable Stereo Cassette Recorder. Comes with a Sony AC power adapter. From a local estate. Has lots of issues. Cosmetics-The body top areas are clean overall. It was generally protected wrapped up in storage. The bottom battery compartment and surrounding areas though have heavy damage from leakage. Especially the bottom plate, battery cover, and inside contact areas. I took a peek inside and the board looks generally clean otherwise. Operationally I checked this out and it does generally respond. I was able to play a cassette, control functions moved smoothly, and recorded clearly. I did find several issues though. When I first tried this the fast forward did not respond. But after a few tries it started to move. Most likely it needs new belts from age. The meter lights don’t always respond to pushing the button. The battery contacts are intermittent and do not always make a connection. Additionally the right channel has a serious issue. Sometimes its clear but mostly has a motor boat sound which causes the right meter to peg and rattle to the right. Maybe some capacitors going bad?? So this has some general life but will need professional service and parts replaced to be useable. Great for someone who enjoys a project and restoring older recorders.
