The unit is in good cosmetic condition with some signs of use like small scratches, paint wear and dings. I did my best to include photos of any blemishes to judge the condition for yourself. I replaced the old belt with one that meets OEM specs. The motor was calibrated to the correct speed. The tape head, pinch rollers, pulleys and electrical contacts were all cleaned. Plays and records in both directions. Recording was tested to be working. Gears are in good shape and intact so no clicking or seizing while the player’s running. Tape direction indicator operates as it should. Battery terminals are free of corrosion. Overall it’s in good running condition and sounds great for a player released in 1986! Dolby recording isn’t supported. It is for Playback only. I believe this applies to High Bias as well, but I wasn’t able to confirm. The recording sensors latch onto the cassette notches giving it a tighter fit. Therefore closing and lifting the door should be done carefully in order to prevent damage. This is just how it was designed. Unlike others using the WM-100 mechanism, the tape direction can switched when the player is off by pressing the Auto-Reverse button.
