WORKING- Cassette recorder-tape player Vintage-GE model APH 3-5196B-General Electric Taiwan-Retro design audio tape recorder from 90s. Excellent condition- collectible cassette recorder from 90s-fully working. Made by General Electric, American Printing House for the Blind. Place of Origin: China; Louisville, KY. Description: Leather textured gray plastic case; retractable plastic handle; black push-button controls on right with raised symbols for record, rewind, forward, play, pause, and stop; toggle switches on left for tape speed (15/16 or 1 7/8), tape side (1-2 or 3-4), and on/off for the microphone; slide switches on left for volume and tone; push-button index button to left of cassette door and sliding speed control; speaker grill above controls and tape compartment; recessed hole in cassette door allows tactile monitoring of cassette progress; jacks below handle for earphone, headphone, remote microphone, aux/out, and aux/in; black AC power cord stored in compartment on back; Nickel Cadmium battery compartment on bottom; GE serial no. 010826; Model No 3-5196B. Provenance: Introduced in 1996 as a slight upgrade from the 5196A, introduced in 1993. The two machines had identical appearance and controls. The 5196 series was only slightly different in appearance from the 5194, introduced in 1981: different colors, slightly different texture pattern, condenser microphone grill removed, different switch colors, no headphone jack, plastic handle rather than aluminum, and a slightly altered speed control scale.
