Vintage Sony Walkman Personal Cassette Recorder WM-GX680 Rare. Appears to be in good condition. With tape inserted and battery and headphones it appears to play the tape without issue, the sound is great. It has not been tested further than this. Comes as shown, from a smoke free home.

This listing is for a. VINTAGE SONY WALKMAN PERSONAL CASSETTE RECORDER WM-GX680. Very nice condition, looks close to new, please see photos. Included is the walkman only. You can plug many different brands of headphones into it as it has a standard jack. This walkman uses two standard size AA batteries for power. PLEASE NOTE: This walkman has been restored, so it is guaranteed to work properly. Type of restoration done. Rubber drive belts changed and speed adjusted properly with Sony Professional test tape at 3000Hz. So now the walkman should be good to use for quite some time, but of course with vintage electronics there can’t be any guarantees. ABOUT THE RESTORATION: Why is it important that the item be restored? You should know that it is extremely rare(1 in 10 or 20 chance) to see a vintage item working PERFECT after sitting for some 20+ years without the need of any restoration work done. This is because rubber gets old, plastics shrink and crack, electronic components that have liquid in them won’t give the same performance as freshly made ones, etc. Repair places don’t do restorations but just fault finding. They just find what electronic component is causing a device to mulfunction and replace that component only. This is because it takes a lot of time to restore an item and unless you ask and are ready to pay, they won’t do it. In fact some repair places don’t believe you should replace components that are still working even though certain types of 20+ year old components won’t have the equivalent performance of freshly made ones.
