Unique vintage cassette deck music gooseneck desk lamp. Made from a desktop model Dokorder MK-550 cassette tape recorder/player made in 1977 in Japan. The player which needs to be hooked up to a stereo receiver with Tape input/outputs or to a stereo amplifier with the same using RCA cables to be able to hear or record music. You could use the headphone jack in front for playback, but to have the full effect you will might want it hooked up properly. The VU meters light up as well. In the center near the top, when a cassette is played, there is a’Tape Run’ light with 3 lines that spins around (see video and pics), but it sometimes gets stuck. When it does work, it also goes forward and reverse when FF and REW are pushed. The counter seems to be hooked to that part as well, so it works most of the time, but not always. It probably needs some grease and maybe new belts for those. The slide adjustments work as they should for recording, the headphone jack and Mic inputs work in the front. All the inputs and out puts work on the back as well. The gooseneck lamp has it’s own power button and can be used anywhere so you could just use the desk lamp as conversational piece. Although, you could just pop in a cassette tape and press play and have the VU meters lit up and bouncing. To adjust gooseneck to a different position, it should be noted that it is best to firmly hold the silver part in the middle and move it just behind the lamp head, this way the bottom of the silver part will not come loose and the head of the lamp will not come loose as we had happen when we tried grabbing the just the shade and moving it around. We have tightened everything back up so it should last awhile if you take a little extra precaution when adjusting the light position. If you have any questions please ask as this is an actual stereo component and will not play on it’s own. Overall as pictured: 18″ tall x 12″ deep x 16 wide. Tape deck stands 4 1/2 tall.
