Vintage Sony Umatic VCR Video Cassette Recorder U-matic VO-2630S Turns On

Vintage Commercial Sony Umatic VCR Videocassette Recorder VO-2630S and 1 Umatic 3M Cassette Tape. When first released, this product was primarily used commercially by TV stations and other similar organizations which needed to quickly turnaround videotaped footage for broadcast. The unit turns on and off and the faint noise of a cooling fan? (Possibly an idler motor) can be heard while the machine is on, the top loading ejection port button lights up when pressed but does not seem to eject the top loading door consistently. It appears the top loading ejection door is opened via a motor or belt. The play, rewind, record, etc. Functions were not able to be tested as the buttons can only can be activated when a tape is inserted which I wasnt able to do given the issues with the top loading door. The vu meter lights and internal lights still work. The machine is in excellent cosmetic shape, no visible marks, although the internals probably need to be cleaned or dusted. This unit sat on a shelf in an entertainment cabinet system beneath a TV where the original owner placed it 40 years ago. This unit likely needs new belts for the top loading feature, transport and some other light restoration work to get it to run. Vintage 1984 Sony 3/4 U-Matic Video Cassette Recorder VO-5600 For Parts or Repairs. The item for sale is For Parts or Not Working. Cosmetic condition (see pictures). Upon inspection of the device. I noticed the type of scuffs and scratches that happen with normal use. All ports and connectors are in good cosmetic condition. There is some rust damage on the top of the device. There are some heavy scuffs and scratches on the top and bottom of the device. The paint on the device is chipping majorly in various places. I was able to power on the device. Item powers on with attached power cable. Unable to play the 3/4 Umatic tape we have in house. When tape is inserted into the unit it will take it in and attempt to pull. The tape around the head but pulls too much tape and ends up locking up the unit. Tried this another time after extracting the tape. And found the same result. When the unit is locked up like this the FFWD button is lit but as is the standby light but no buttons will. Do anything at that point. Connected an in house camera into the video IN port in the back via an RCA to BD2 connector. Also connected an in house monitor to the. Video OUT and the video does show in the monitor when the item is in REC (record) mode. Input has to be in LINE mode for this to happen. Connecting audio through the video IN RCA ports give no audio through headphone or audio monitor ports. It will not send audio to the in. Connected an in house Microphone to the CH-1 and CH-2 MIC inputs on the front of the device but both ports only give static when plugged. You can hear the static and electrical noise when moving the plug but not when it is still. CH-1 plays through a headphone port. And CH-2 plays through the monitor connected to video OUT. The needles for the audio levels will jump around when the static was present. Adjusting the headphone level and the audio levels for the channels made the static louder or quieter. Eject, DUB CH-1, and REC lights work on the front of the device. TV, RF out, Remote, RX Data ports untested.
