AIWA TPR-950H Boombox vintage cassette/recorder stereo circa1978 – with manual – one owner. I used to record LP’s to cassettes. There is static in the volume knob when it is turned. The Sleep mode button doesn’t work but everything else works. Scratches on the back of case and a few dents on the top trim. One side of the left antenna plastic holding clip is broken off. Where the left antenna attaches to the case is bent, so inspect very carefully before determining which direction to turn the left antenne before extending it. Connect a turn table and record to a blank cassette. You can also connect external speakers. I have more pictures if interested. This was completely dismantled and cleaned from the inside out. It has some scratches in the silver that have been touched up. Being a 40+ year old portable boombox, it’s in very good overall condition. New cassette player belts were installed. All cassette functions are working. All four speakers work. The original tuner light and LEDs work. Both VU meters work. Both (original) antennas extend and retract easily. Both antenna holders are intact, which is very rare to find on these boxes. The power cord is in great condition. Having bought this from the original owner, I believe it’s original to the box. The radio gets excellent reception and pulls in FM stations that most other radios I’ve had don’t or can’t. The battery compartment is clean and I verified that it operates on 6 D batteries. The radio and line in sound excellent. Note that this box has the RCA style inputs. I’m a treble loving person and this is one of the only radios that I’ve ever turned the treble down on. After owning and using this for a while, I can attest that the reputation of the 950 being an upper tier boombox is well deserved. The sound and build quality are excellent.
