I was able to get this Walkman to play by pressing and holding down the input connector of the AC adaptor. The connection is loose on the inside of the Walkman, but if the connector is pressed down a certain way, the Walkman will play (see video and last picture). The battery casing is corroded, but the inside or housing is clean. It comes with the original leather case and the original Sony AC adaptor. Please review pictures and video for better details. Last time I tested this, it powered on and the radio worked just fine. Cassettes play, but not at the right speed, the tape player plays very slow or very fast, making it sound garbled.

Condition Notes: The radio is in very good condition overall, all the buttons work but there are a few issues. The main issue is the REW and FF don’t work. Vintage Sony Walkman WM-W800 Double Cassette Player/Recorder, Works! This has been tested, both sides play and it records. I replaced both belts and it was an adventure. I was amazed that I was able to actually put it back together, the last step was to attach the second door and I was not able to get the two screws on the bottom of the door into the hinge. The only other issue I had is one of the screws on the inside of side A was stripped so I got a Dremel and cut a notch in the head so I could use a flathead. There are scratches where I touched the deck with the cutting wheel. It’s in great condition, very clean. Includes the instructions and the carrying strap. The model is extremely rare. The radio works great and the speakers sound great as well. There is no power cable so you will need 8 “D” batteries which are not included with this listing. The cassette player would not function at all and the the would not move at all. The slider switch that selects between radio, cassette, and input is broken so you will need a small object to move that lever.. The plastic over the station numbers on the top has a small piece missing in the top left corner but it is not very noticable at all. It can be fixed or used as parts.
