This vintage 1980s Sony TCS-300 Stereo Cassette Recorder includes the original case and original tags. I have tested and it plays a tape at about a 3 sound but there’s interference when I turn the volume up and the fast forward and rewind buttons do not work. It also seems to play slightly slower than it should. Might need a new belt. I did not test the record function as I do not have a tape to do so. Please feel free to ask any questions prior to purchasing. Size: Measures approximately 7″ x 4″ x 1.75. Great cosmetic condition with no corrosion. Tested cassette player but not record function. It plays but fast forward and rewind buttons do not work. There is a lot of interference when volume is turned up. Also seems to be playing slightly slow. Probably needs a new belt. Please see photos for a more detailed visual description of the item. Paper items will be packaged between cardboard backer board in a plastic sleeve. Breakable items will be packaged with bubble wrap. Make sure to take a look at the items I have listed for sale.

This Teac deck (serial number 7178 92) isn’t going to win any beauty contests. There are a few scratches on the cabinet and one of the rack mounts in bent (see pictures). Also, the power button is loose and sloppy. The belt(s) appear to be totally shot as we’re not getting any transport action. However, testing the deck with an external source through the line-in input, we can confirm that the meters work and the sound is good through the headphone jack. Since we cannot test with a cassette, it is possible that other issues exist in addition to the belts needing to be replaced. The bottom line is this… You’ll receive your item on time and in perfect condition regardless of how big, heavy, or delicate your item may be! WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE SALE: You will only receive what is shown in the photographs. If you do not see it in the photos, it is likely not included in the sale. This JVC RC-680J boombox is a vintage piece from the 80s/ 90s. Radio works great but cassette player is iffy. It works intermittently but ff/reverse don’t work properly. Good overall cosmetic condition commensurate with age.

Tascam 244 Portastudio – Vintage 4-Track Cassette Recorder. Tested to basic functionality. Please read full description. This is a vintage Tascam 244 Portastudio that powers on and plays audio through the headphone jack. All meters light up and respond when a tape is playing. Pitch control slider works and does affect the speed, but playback is noticeably fast and sounds pitched up (think “Alvin and the Chipmunks”). Likely needs a belt replacement or internal speed calibration, which is common for units of this age. I have not tested recording or all input/output jacks. What I know works. Unit powers on. All 4 VU meters light up and respond to signal. Tape plays back. Audio comes through headphones. Pitch slider has some effect. Playback speed is too fast (likely a belt or motor adjustment issue). No further testing has been done inputs, recording, etc. Unit is in good vintage condition with expected wear for its age. Some minor surface marks and scuffs, but overall clean. All buttons and sliders appear to be intact and functional. This is a great candidate for repair or restoration, or even for someone who wants to mod it. These units are getting harder to find and are known for their classic lo-fi analog warmth. Tascam 244 unit only (no cables, power adapter is built-in). No original box or manual. Tape deck is beautiful, turns on, and is very clean. However, it is non-functional at this point. Pushing any of the servo controls results and the buttons staying down for just a few moments and then popping back up. The motor is not activating and might be frozen. All other mechanisms and controls look to be OK. From looking inside, it appears that all the belts are on, butmay be loose. The belts are not deteriorated and sticky. Please see pics, you will receive exactly what is shown. This is a high-quality and rare tape deck, it only needs to be brought back to life. Thanks and enjoy – more information about this deck is below. The TC-511 not only sounds like a first class audio component, it looks like one too, stacking. Conveniently on, or under your amplifier, receiver or tuner. Controls are on the front panel for easy access – complemented by the fast, easy front-loading configuration. Even the microphone jacks are on the front. Smooth and positive in normal operation, the lever-type controls lock if pressed in a sequence that might harm the tape or your recording. And the TC-511 switches itself off at the end of the tape, in all operating modes. Level setting is simple with these twin knobs. Adjust them separately for perfect stereo balance, and turn them together for smooth, balanced fade-in and fade-out techniques. Separate meters for L and R hand channels give accurate indications of overall recording level, helping even a first-timer to get the best signal levels, and ensuring low distortion with good signal to noise ratio. To keep tape speed rock steady, so that recordings are unspoiled by the false trills and tremulous of wow and flutter, the tape drive mechanism has a capstan / bearing assembly finished to amazing 0.1 micron tolerances, and separate belts for capstan and take-up spool. The combination of high torque DC motor, mechanical precision, and a powerful flywheel smoothing effect, means a level of wow and flutter so low that even sustained piano chords (severest test of a tape deck) will sound out pure and true. The Yamaha equalizer amplifier has a lot to do with the outstandingly good S/N ratio, and uses a specially developed low noise ultra-linear integrated circuit for long term performance unaffected by temperature or humidity, and unimpaired reliability. Amplifier distortion is right at the lower measuring limits for high grade test instruments. Combined with the high performance of the TC-511 permalloy head, the result is an overall distortion figure of only 1.5%, including both recording and playback. The specially profiled contour-effect recording/playback head In the TC-511 is one secret of the extremely high performance. Preserving the excellent signal-to-noise and wide dynamic range of conventional permalloy, but with much higher resistance to wear, it promises the long service life of ferrite without its disadvantages.
