Nothing sounds quite like tape and it’s pretty sweet to get that tapey sound across 8 tracks crammed onto a single cassette. I really like this machine. I did some demos on it. About 6 years ago and then it was stored in a temp control basement until now. It was working great when I put it down there but now when I test I get sound from all channels but the play/record belt appears to need a replacement. FF and RW work just fine and as I said all channels receive signal from the mic inputs. Might be the easiest fix ever but I don’t care to do the work! My laziness is your gain! I’m including the Tascam 688 in this listing and bonus. MIDI cable that came with the machine when new. Feel free to reach out with any questions and I’ll get back to you asap.
